Chief/Principal Electronics Engineer

Integral Powertrain (IP) is a powertrain specialist that undertakes key design and development projects supporting OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. It is experiencing substantial growth resulting from successful programmes related to next generation engines, hybrid technologies, electric traction motors and the expansion of emission and control systems testing facilities.

IP has recently started a major new hybrid boosting technology development program and is now recruiting for a Chief/Principal Electronics Engineer to support the development of electric drives and related technologies in this area.

As Chief/Principal Electronics Engineer you will be expected to take a technical leadership role in all stages of the development lifecycle, from initial concept generation through to final delivery and support.
This role will give you to opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented technical people in the UK and will involve significant technical challenge.

Key responsibilities

  • Understand client requirements and drivers, and foresee technical challenges
  • Work with the Project Manager to plan approaches to projects
  • Lead the definition of technical solutions, systems architectures and design solutions for product or system developments
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust system solutions and products ready for manufacture
  • Managing internal and external resources to meet the design, build, test and manufacturing criteria

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes

  • An excellent undergraduate degree in electronics with specific focus on power electronics and electrical drives,
  • You will have significant experience in an electronic engineering role with a proven track record of design leadership and technical authority.
  • An MSc or PhD in electric drives or related subject area would be beneficial
  • Direct experience in developing power electronics based products (inverters / converters) - ideally in automotive applications.
  • Good knowledge of electric drive technology (power electronics, motors & control systems)
  • Experience of working with electric drives over voltage range 12V – 600V
  • Used to working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in a similar position preferable
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines
