Compressor Map Enhancer
Intended for use with centrifugal compressors the Compressor Map Enhancer provides a low-cost mechanism to extend compressor map width.
Though deceptively simple in execution the CME provides a sophisticated and cost effective solution to increasing torque at low engine speeds, a key factor in maintaining engine performance whilst increasing efficiency.
Designed and developed within Integral Powertrain'’s AID engineering system IP's CME designs are scalable and adaptable to meet your requirements. Prototype units are available to suit customer specific requirements with development and analysis engineering support.
applications
- Gasoline and Diesel turbo-charged engines
- Passenger car and heavy-duty engines
- Downsized engines
technology
- The switchable device has a simple butterfly valve which can be varied in angle to vary the proportion of flow passing through a whirl inducing concentric passage
- CFD analysis has been to optimise the package and geometry
- Testing on bench and on engines has confirmed the benefits are achievable
- Up to 30% torque increase achieved at critical low engine speed region
benefits
- Provides the facility to modulate flow pre-whirl ahead of the compressor
- Enhances compressor surge limit or enhances flow range
- Supports delivery of increased low speed torque and improved transient response
- Low cost device
prototypes
- Proven designs based on recent successful OEM evaluations
