SuperGen - TSG

SuperGen-TSG (Turbocharger+SuperGen) combines SuperGen's supercharging and hybridisation advantages with the additional benefits of multi-stage turbocharging.

TSG is fundamentally different to other Super-Turbo systems in that the SuperGen supercharger is installed between a conventional 'low-pressure' Turbocharger and the engine - in effect SuperGen is the high-pressure compressor stage, and only the LP-turbocharger operates in the exhaust system.

The result is a two-stage, very high boost-performance, efficient, scalable and on-demand electro-mechanical hybrid charging system particularly suited to next generation gasoline and Diesel engines.

In cost, engine power & torque, economy, response and flexibility the TSG system compares extremely favourably with other boosting technology competitors.

applications

  • Gasoline
    • Advanced DI-VCP engines at 100-150 kW/L
    • >18Bar BMEP at 1000RPM
    • <0.5s to 90% Torque at all conditions.
    • Well suited to E85 and CNG engines
  • Diesel
    • Advanced Diesels at 70-100kW/L
    • Very fast response at all conditions
    • High EGR Diesels (Euro-VI)
    • Engines with low EGR and SCR
    • Novel combustion strategies ie. HCCI / PCCI

technology

  • Fast response electro-mechanical boosting system
  • Matched with conventional low-pressure turbocharger as a two-stage series boosting system
  • Single-stage power-split IVT
  • Centrifugal supercharger
  • Max. compressor power 5x electrical power
  • No net battery power requirement
  • Integrated controls and electronics

benefits

  • Sequential boosting solution with improved response
  • Outstanding tip-in response (<0.3s)
  • 100-150kW/l & 200-250Nm/l for gasoline engines
  • 70-100kW/l for diesel engines
  • Ultra-low CO2 through aggressive down-sizing & down-speeding
  • Stop-start, re-gen. braking and launch assist
