The control system hardware forms the link between the control module and the rest of the powertrain. Each sensor must be carefully selected for function, cost, range of operation, accuracy, durability, installation requirements and diagnostic capability.

Sensor technology is also critical for the efficient function of after treatment systems, on both gasoline and diesel systems. During emission concept development, the after treatment system and its related sensors and actuators are treated as a complete system, with calibration work usually undertaken to determine the real system capability under production type constraints.

IP works closely with the control system supplier to recommend a system specification which meets the needs of the Client.
