control strategy and prototyping
Through our experience in production calibration programmes, and the development of its own technologies, IP has a wealth of capability in strategy development and the prototyping of new systems. Our control strategy design uses a top down requirements driven approach, combining models of the new strategy with those of the new system and vehicle. The MathWorks tool chain is generally used at this stage.
IP can also carry out strategy bypass work, which enables a new strategy feature to interface with an existing EMS, without the issues of access to the EMS software. For prototyping, IP uses a variety of solutions depending on the level of control hardware integration, including industry standard systems such as dSPACE micro Autobox. For systems with unique hardware, we can carry out full embedded system prototyping with CAN interfacing to the existing EMS.
Typical control strategy work ranges from a small change to an existing control strategy, to the development of a full control system or sub system for a new powertrain technology or existing system. We can deliver capable OBD strategy as well, including development of all new monitors for an engine or after treatment system.
IP has advanced capability in the field of electric machine inverters and their control systems, through our projects for ISG and traction machines.
