The SuperGen combines boosting and hybrid technology to produce an electro-mechanical supercharging and generating system. The device has a mechanical drive input (e.g. belt drive from the crankshaft) combined with an epicyclic traction drive, two electrical machines and a radial flow compressor. Energy can flow from the input to the compressor either mechanically or electrically.
